Monochrome Laser Printer: Simplicity for your Printing Needs
Many people enjoy using computers these days and this can be for either business or pleasure purposes. They are effective tools and are commonplace in many locations. Whether using a PC for work or for more leisurely pursuits, having a printer available is common sense. They are one of the most widely used PC accessories and there are many available on the market.
If you are considering a printer for your home or office it generally boils down to a laser or inkjet model. Many prefer a laser printer for its ease of use and speed of printing. This type of printer creates an image on a page using toner powder. A cartridge containing the toner is installed in the printer and over time this will need to be replaced to maintain print quality and keep the printer working.
There is a choice of black and white or color laser printers. The type which best suits your needs will largely depend on the type of printing required. Printing graphics will typically require a color laser printer. However if you are primarily printing text based documents then a monochrome printer can be a more appropriate choice. A benefit of these is that they can be more affordable to purchase than a color laser printer.
Most of the major printer manufacturers compete in the monochrome laser printer market. This provides a decent choice for the consumer and some of the brand names to consider include Fuji Xerox, Canon, HP and Brother. These and many other manufacturers make a range of printers which can vary from smaller, more portable models to desktop sized printers for office or home installation.
Depending on your exact requirements the cost of a black and white laser printer can vary widely. Basic models can be found for prices of around $150. However, if you are looking for more features and better quality the cost will increase. Some of the higher quality desk top models can typically be found on the market in a cost range from $500 to $1,000.
If speed of printing is a top requirement for you, then black and white laser printers can be the best option by far. Some models on the market have the ability to print around 200 pages in one minute. With this capability, printing out large documents or multiple pages becomes much less time consuming. Even printing at these speeds the print quality of most black and white laser printers is still excellent.
A mid-size or small laser printer is the most common type of monochrome model. These are designed for desktop installation and do not take up a lot of room. However to cut down on the space required, all-in-one printers are an option and these include other functions as well as printing. Some of those to consider include the Lexmark X364DW printer and the Samsung SCX-4300 black and white all-in-one printer.
As well as the price of purchase, the other ongoing cost in using a black and white printer is toner cartridge replacement. Depending on how often toner needs to be replaced this can be expensive. However there are ways of cutting costs and compatible or remanufactured cartridges are options to consider. These can be purchased at a significant discount to the printer manufacturer cartridges without significantly affecting print quality.
